Brad Binder, the championship leader takes the win in Spain from the back of the grid - a penalty imposed after it had been discovered that the team had used illegal mapping equipment - making his fight to keep his podium record even more difficult.

However, he fought his way through the field to take the victory and his first ever win in the MOTO3.

Nicolo Bulega rookie took second after a three abreast last lap battle.

Pole sitter and rookie Bulega rookie for the SKY VR46 team had a fight in front of him with the last winner from pole had been Marco Simoncelli in 2005

Niccolo Anotonelli stalled on the start line and had to start from the pit lane that just added to the lack of luck for the team this weekend. Then crashed out on lap 11.

On the first lap Bulega dropped back with Jorge Navarro taking the lead Binder made it up to 18th then continued to dispense with the competition and get up to fourth with 15 laps left.

Jorge Navarro, Francesco Bagnaia and Bulega scrapped in a battle for fourth leaving Binder able to catch the leading group.

Binder arrived on the tail of Bulega on lap ten, ready to take the position from the rookie and leave himself with nine laps to get to the front.

Romano Fenati got himself back into fifth after he had started to drop back, but with a six second gap it left him no chance of catching the front runners. This left the Italian to fight with another six riders to keep his place.

Binder took the lead, trail-braking on turn six, and passing Bagnaia.

Binder got his head down to get away and hold his position with five laps left.

Bulega was overwhelmed with his second placed finish.

John McPhee crashed out on lap 15 in a low speed crash, but the British rider was ok.

Following that, with seven laps left, his teammate, Frenchman Alexis Masbou, went down meaning a double blow for the team.
